The four cycles that every washer performs are fill, wash, drain, and spin. Though there are a number of problems that you can fix quite simply, washing machines have a variety of devices and controls that -- when they go wrong -- are better left in the hands of an appliance repairer.

As most washers are now electronically controlled, there are a number of electronic circuits that can fail.  Often your machine will show all lights on, or no lights on, or it will stop at one place in the cycle.

One of the most common, and expensive problems that occur with washing machines is a burst hose.  Because washing machine hoses are under constant pressure, they can flood your home if they burst when you're away. You can prevent this by installing lever-type shutoff valves.  These can be obtained from most plumbing outlets.  With these, you can easily turn off the levers for both hot and cold water between washing loads, and particularly when you are going away for an extended period.

We repair all types of washing machines, including top loaders and front loaders, old agitator machines and modern electronically controlled washing machines.  Top loading machines can be stopped and started mid-cycle which makes them easier to use, but front loading machines are more suitable for apartments where there's limited space, but you can't stop them mid-cycle (they also use less water, so are more friendly on the environment).
